by adminThe campaigner, who is currently in the middle of a bitter divorce battle with the former Beatle, stepped up and showed she can dance gracefully despite having an artificial limb, that didn't fall off.
She told viewers she hoped her appearance would inspire others with a disability: "A little kid sitting there who's just lost a limb _ I hope they're gonna go, 'Oh, I can.'"
Mills and her dance partner, Jonathan Roberts, who performed a fox trot, scored 18 out of the maximum 30 points from the judges last night, when the fourth season of ABC's show debuted. The pair placed seventh out of eleven couples.
Dressed in a flowing sequined pink and yellow dress with pink elbow-length gloves, Mills confessed she felt “a bit like an ice cream sundae. I'm not used to dressing up to this level."
Introduced as a “charity campaigner” rather than “Mrs. Paul McCartney,” Mills was promised by the judges that they would judge her no differently than any other competitor.
"There was far more right about that routine than wrong," said Len Goodman, one of the three judges. "I think you are an inspiration to people to get out and dance."
"You've got more guts than Rambo," said Bruno Tonioli, who went on to criticize not her legs but her top half, her arms, during the performance.
The judges were also impressed by the fact that she joined the contest in the first place. Mills had her left leg amputated below the knee after being hit by a motorcycle in 1993.
