Former Boston Bruin hockey player Graeme Townshend opened Hollywood Tan next to Tower Records a month ago. For a name associated with several league championships, including the Hockey Hall of Fame, running a tanning salon known to attract celebrities, a retail in the quiet corners of a strip mall, seemed like the next adrenal rush.

The forward player made his debut in hockey with the Boston Bruins for whom he played two seasons and 22 games through his career. In 1999, he retired at the age of 33 and began to coach teams.

Sooner or later the hockey player didn't want to be tagged as a landlord and began to scout for business in the Northeast to parley the income that was coming as rent.

That was when a friend and former hockey champion Bruce Coles showed him the business he was already running in New Jersey - a Hollywood Tan franchise. Townshend sold eight of his 15 buildings in Maine where the real estate market is currently peaking to, in order to divest his assets.

Known to attract celebrities with their state-of-the-art equipment, Townshend gave a tour of the tanning booths across his immaculate set up. Each of the booths boast of low ultra violet rays stimulation with a custom stand-up design. Townshend pointed to a high-pressure tanning booth where stars like to step in the most.
