New Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky has deserted the team seats behind home plate in Ed Smith Stadium for a higher perspective. Former Reds GM Jim Bowden liked being seen at field level while he entertained celebrities such as Jerry Springer and Dick Vitale.

Krivsky, however, grew up in the game as a scout. He intends to continue that role with Cincinnati as time and circumstances permit. That precipitated the move.

Narron liked what he saw from Paul Wilson last week during a batting practice session, but offered a cautionary note for Wilson, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.

"I hope he doesn't try to rush things," Narron said. "I thought his arm speed was very good. That doesn't mean he'll be ready by April 1. But I was pleased by what I saw."
